From November 18 to November 21, 2019 the medical technology trade fair Compamed took place again in Düsseldorf, together with the health and medical technology trade fair Medica. Once again this year there was a Yokohama Pavilion at Compamed, where the Yokohama Industrial Development Corporation (IDEC) exhibited together with five companies from Yokohama.
Medica took place for the first time in 1972 and exhibitor and visitor numbers have grown steadily since then, so that Medica has now become the largest health and medical technology trade fair. Compamed, which presents medical devices and technologies, was first held in 1992, but has been growing steadily ever since, as well. According to organizer figures, this year around 5500 exhibitors exhibited at Medica and around 800 at Compamed. Both fairs together thus recorded a record number of around 121,000 visitors.
The five companies from Yokohama that exhibited at the Japan Pavilion are presented below. Of these five, three have been to the Yokohama Pavilion several times, one company exhibited at another pavilion last year and one company joined the exhibitor group for the first time. The booths of these companies were very well visited, making this year's exhibition the most successful for the companies. In addition, the seminar area close to the Yokohama Pavilion was more integrated into the activities this time, so that IDEC and Think Lands were also able to give presentations.
This year's participation at Compamed was not only aimed at supporting the companies from Yokohama, but also at looking at the future of the healthcare, medical technology and biotechnology sector, and looking for connections to German clusters. With this in mind, several cluster representatives were contacted in order to identify and encourage future cooperation opportunities.
