On Saturday, 25.05.2019, the largest Japan festival in Europe in terms of the event organizer numbers took place again in Düsseldorf. Our office, supported by the Japanese Consulate General in Düsseldorf, has also been participating at the Japan Day for years and presenting Yokohama as a tourist destination. This year we were again allowed to use part of the booth of the Consulate General and exhibit our information from 12:00 to 15:30.
Besides the exhibitors of JNTO, JR East and Shiga Prefecture, who were also present at this time, the prefectures Saga and Ibaraki and the Tokyo district Ôta later exhibited their information there.
Since Japan Day 2002 took place for the first time, it is repeated every year at the end of May or beginning of June. Since the city of Düsseldorf, as well as the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia, has had a large Japanese community and a strong friendship with Japan for a long time through the increased settlement of Japanese companies, Japan Day was once intended to build a bridge between the companies and the community and those interested in Japan. This is now happening successfully every year.
This year's Japan Day was again attended by some 60,000 people in excellent weather. Thanks to the active support of the head of the Bank of Yokohama representative office in London, we were once again able to bring countless Japan fans closer to the beautiful port metropolis of Yokohama. We are very happy that the rush was so great that we ran out of information material before 15:30.
