Yokohama is one of Japan's top 3 convention and MICE venues thanks to its excellent international and national accessibility, state-of-the-art convention infrastructure, number of facilities, government support and openhearted residents.
After the world-class conference complex PACIFICO Yokohama 2011 hosted APEC with 8000 attendees and 2012 the annual meeting of the International Society for Stem Cell Research with 3500 attendees, Yokohama's entire conference infrastructure has expanded to meet the growing demand for international events with increasing numbers of attendees.
The PACIFICO complex is already one of the largest conference complexes in Japan - the National Convention Hall offers 5,000 seats, the exhibition hall covers 20,000m², and the Conference Center offers 50 conference rooms in various sizes - and it will be extended by another hall in spring 2020. The new North Hall offers space for 5900 people and various types of events such as exhibitions, conferences and ceremonies on the multipurpose floor. The extension will add further 42 meeting rooms to the complex, which can be used for large-scale events together with the rest of the PACIFICO complex.
Between September 2019 and July 2023, major conferences such as the IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), the IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium and Medical Imaging Conference (IEEE NSS/MIC), the 15th World Congress on Computational Mechanics (WCCM) and more have already been confirmed.
The Yokohama Convention and Visitors Bureau is a non-profit organization of the city of Yokohama and supports organizers of conferences, exhibitions, incentive tours and many other events. It offers free support from the beginning of planning to successful implementation. In detail this means among other things the support with the bid procedure and presentation production, with the inspection of conference facilities, the reinforcement of the graduation by foreign delegates, contact to press, local authorities and suppliers. In addition, city maps, information about tourist activities, local events, as well as sightseeing destinations and souvenirs are distributed.
From May 21-23, 2019 we had the opportunity to support the Yokohama Convention and Visitors Bureau and a team of PACIFICO Yokohama at the IMEX in Frankfurt with our representative office at an exhibition booth. We are pleased that this booth was well visited so that we could present Yokohama as an ideal venue for international conferences, exhibitions and similar events.
If you are thinking about hosting an event in Yokohama in the future, please do not hesitate to contact us.
