The Festival of contemporary Art – Yokohama Triennale 2017

The art festival Yokohama Triennale this year goes under the motto ‘Island, Constellations & Galapagos’. These words shall offer the visitors room for discussing and thinking about issues like isolation and connectivity, imagination and guidance, distinctness and diversity. They shall give room for deep reflective thoughts on what could be considered as wise future actions in a time of uncertainty. The exhibition aims to engage the visitors in discussions that not only come from facts but from imagination and creativity.
As the first port to open to the West after 200 years of seclusion, Yokohama has a long history related to ‘isolation’ and ‘connectivity’. Therefore this exhibition offers the base for opening minds and broadening horizons, not only with the contemporary art being exhibited but also with the wish for exchanging thoughts and opinions.

In addition to the exhibition, a series of public forums called “Yokohama Round”, will start in January 2017 as a platform for conversations/discussions, contemplation, as well as sharing the ideas surrounding the title.
